Shillong, East Khasi Hills, Kaziranga, Dimapur, Kohima
Day 1- Arrival At Guwahati And Transfer To Shillong Arrive at Guwahati airport in Assam and head up to Shillong in Meghalaya. (118 kms, approximately 3 hours drive).|
Day 2- Trip To Cherrapunji Explore Cherrapunji and the nearby areas today. (54 km, approximately 2 hours drive) Your guide will meet you at your guest house at 8 am. Do sit with him for some time to understand the various options you have at Cherrapunji and then decide on what interests you the most. He will then fix an optimal route for the day. |
Day 3- Day Tour Of Shillong Town Highlights: A short guided walk around Shillong town – visit to the Don Bosco Museum. The museum visit will be at least 3 hours long as it has seven floors and covers all states of the north east. Explore the local market and shops. Itinerary: • Your car will be waiting to pick you up from the hotel at 10 am [if you would prefer a different time, please advise the driver of the same]. • Visit to the Don Bosco Museum will add a lot of perspective to the trip to follow. • Try Café Shillong for lunch. Post lunch, visit the local markets of Shillong. Lewduh Bara Bazaar in Shillong is famous for its Turmeric and dried fish. Shop for souvenirs or anything that you’d like to pick up from Shillong. • If you're not too tired, you can head to Ward's Lake or Lady Hydari park for an evening walk. • Head back to your guest house for the night.|
Day 4- Head To Kaziranga Head to your resort in Kaziranga (264 kms, approximately 7 hours drive). Our car will be waiting to pick you up and take you to your resort in Kaziranga. There is no other plan for the day as you will be tired from the long journey.|
Day 5- Jungle Activities At Kaziranga Activities planned for the day: Early morning elephant safari at Kaziranga [based on ticket availability] and jeep safari in the afternoon. This is a guest favourite! Breakfast at the camp. Other jungle activities that you may have selected for your day here today. Maihang is a traditional Assamese food restaurant not too far away from the hotel. You could either consider eating there, or you could ask the hotel to give you a sampler of traditional Assamese food.|
Day 6- Head To Dimapur (172 Km, Approximately 4 Hours) Activities planned for the day: Early breakfast, Start drive from Kaziranga at 9 am. Head out for Dimapur and reach Kohima in the evening. Check in to your hotel. No other plans for the day as you would be tired from the long journey.|
Day 7- Day Tour Of Kohima Town Activities planned for the day: After breakfast take a short guided walk around Kohima town – explore the local market and shops followed by our signature World War II tour at the Commonwealth War Cemetery to learn how a fierce battle between the Allies and Japanese along with the Indian National Army impacted the course of the World’s history. Have lunch at a café in town followed by a visit the local Market. For the more adventurous we take you to see the exotic food that the Nagas are famous for. Post lunch visit to the Kohima Cathedral or the State Museum. Dinner at your lodge|
Day 8- Trip To Dzukou Valley Activities planned for the day: A day trek to Dzukou valley, (located at an altitude of approximately 2,450 meters above sea level) which is a stunning grassland surrounded by hill tops. The trek up has a couple of approaches – each with a varying level of intensity and you can choose the one that best suits your fitness level. Itinerary: • Start your day with an early breakfast and then depart for your trek to Dzukou Valley. • Have a picnic lunch at the location and head back to Kohima. • Arrive at the start point of your trek where your transport will be waiting for you with some hot tea. • Return to your hotel and have dinner|
Day 9- Village Trip To Khonoma Route: Head to Khonoma village about an hour away from Kohima and spend the day exploring the village, understanding the life in the village followed by a drive to the Mithun Sanctuary. Activities planned for the day: Breakfast at the residence and departure to Khonoma village at 9 am. Your guide will meet you at Khonoma village. He will take you on a walk around the village and explain the rich history of the village and about all the battles that they have had in the past. Head up to the forested areas where you might get to spot the Mithun. The Mithun is the local Bison and looks like a smaller version of the Nilgiri Gaur. You can have lunch either at the forest rest stop or at Dzulekie, where you can also go for a short walk by the stream. Dzulekie will take you about 30 minutes each way from Khonoma village. Head back to Kohima by about 5 pm and head to your guest house to freshen up.|
Day 10- Day Of Departure Route: Head back to Dimapur. Breakfast at the hotel, check out and then head straight to Dimapur Airport.
