Itinerary
Day 1- Bagdogra To Gangtok. Arrive into Gangtok by late evening after your pick up from the airport/train station. Driving time approx.4.5 hours.|
Day 2- Gangtok To Lachen. Approx. travel time 5 hours. Lachen is the last permanent settlement en-route to Gurudongmar. It’s is a sleepy village with simple and hospitable hotels stays within the village. There are some sights off interest one can visit as out drive out from Gangtok towards Lachen. Highlights: • Tashi view point • Kabi • Phodong monastery • Mangan (district headquarter of North Sikkim and good place for lunch stopover) • Seven Sister waterfalls Meal Plan: Breakfast and Dinner included|
Day 3- Lachen To Lachung Via Gurudongmar Lake. A day excursion to Lake Gurudongmar and return onwards to the village of Lachung. Driving time Lachen to Gurudongmar 3 hours one way. The day starts early as Gurudongmar being located at close to 18,000 feet requires an early turn around to avoid getting caught in bad weather Note: Departure time from Lachen 4 am. Return to Lachen for lunch by noon and proceed unto Lachung for night halt. Arrive at Lachung by late evening. Meal Plan: All meals included.|
Day 4- Lachung To Yumthang Valley And Return To Gangtok. This day also covers considerable ground exploring the famous Yumthang Valley situated at 12,000 feet in the Singba Rhododendron Sanctuary. Driving time from Lachung to Yumthang 2.5 hours one way Places covered: • Yumthang Valley • Yumthang hot-spring • Yumesamdong/Zero Point (Optional. Day 5- Gangtok To Tsangu Lake/ Nathula Pass. This is a full day starting out from Gangtok in the morning and returning to the hotel by late afternoon/ Evening. Driving time one way to Tsangu Lake/ Nathula approx. 3 hrs. Highlights • Sherathang. (this is the mart where the Indo- China trade items are off loaded on the Indian side) • Tsangu lake. (a sacred high altitude lake, and most popular tourist site for its scenic splendour) • Nathu-la (The actual line of border territory between India and Chinese occupied Tibet also known as Tibet Autonomous Region).
