How To Reach The Triund Trek

The nearest town hubs to reach this euphoric destination are Dahramkot and Mcleodganj in Dharamshala, both very prestigious hill stations tourists love to explore for all kinds of reasons. Mcleoddganj to Triund trek is roughly 9 km and 7 km from Dharamkot. Either way, you can start your Triund Trek, although most trek commences from Dharamkot. 

The Nearest airport to the Trekking Spot is Gaggal Airport in Dharamshala and the nearest railhead is Pathankot Railway station which is about 85 km. Hence, trekkers can start trekking the exciting Triund Trek towards the base camp either from Dharamkot or Mcleodganj. 

Duration Of Triund Trek

The trail of Triund Trek covers about 7 km from Dharamkot and takes about 3 to 6 hours to reach the camping site. First-time trekkers may take about 6 hours which includes break time to rest and devour the soulful scene of nature. At the same time, if you start the trek from Mcleodganj, the duration might take about 8 hours to cover. Standing at an elevation of 9350 ft, Triund Trek is one of the highest altitude treks and offers the best of nature’s weekend gateway for those who seek a natural trance.

The trek is easy to complete in a day without any rush. You can begin the trek at your preferred time in the morning. However, before 10:00 am is genuinely the best time to start trekking. If you wish to, you can also set a camp and enjoy the stary or moonlit sky at night at the trekking site. Triund Trek is a jaw-dropping weekend hideout and an ideal place to soak and connect with nature a big time. However, planning to go trekking at Triund should mean that you check the temperatures beforehand. It is because the temperature may vary from season to season. During summer, daytime temperatures range from 160C to 220 C and at night it drops to 80 C to 100 C. Eventually, temperatures will gradually drop down after the monsoon season starting from September. Thence, the temperature will decrease from 180 C to 140 C by day and 50 C to 10 C by night in the months of September to December. 

Best Time To Go For Triund Trek

If choosing the best time to visit Triund, March to June is the perfect time to do so. With the mild weather, the views getting clearer and the whole area bestrews with myriads of colours, it is perhaps the most ideal time to trek here. 

It is best avoided at other times, especially from December to February as it receives heavy snowfall and cut off some parts of the trail. Besides, the cold becomes so severe at these times that it may critically affect your health. 

Consequently, July to Mid-September can face certain challenges at Triund Trek due to the monsoon. The journey can encounter uncomfortable situations as some parts of the trail will become slippery or rain may show up unanticipatedly. It is best to avoid, especially if you are a first-timer.
