Town Hall in Thrissur

Vadakkumnathan Temple

One of the most ancient temples of Kerala, the Vadakkumnathan Temple has an elegant architectural design. The excellent art and craft of this temple are worth a thousand gazes.

This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, embellished with gold ornaments and clothed with bright colours.

The Shakthan Thampuran Palace

The Sakthan Thampuran palace showcases objects, documents, and substances of historical significance.  It was once the seat of power of Shakthan Thampuran, the 18th-century king of the Kingdom of Cochin. This palace was built in the unusual Kerala Naalukettu and Dutch architectural styles. It was converted into a museum in 2005 and is visited for its beautiful architecture and its expansive collections on display.

The Church of Lady of Dolours

The Church of Lady of Dolours is a famous pilgrim center in Southern India and a well-known tourist attraction. The visitors praise the exceptional Gothic architectural style of the church. The church walls are adorned with scenes from the Bible and effigies of Saints. Famously, the church houses as many as eleven holy altars. The central altar is graced by five other altars on each of its flanks. Devotees throng this church in the hope that their petitions will be answered by the almighty.

Thrissur Archeological and Art Museum

The region’s rich cultural heritage is displayed through the Thrissur Archeological and Art Museum. It is nestled at the Town Hall Road. The number of relics and heirlooms holds archaeological importance. Prototypes of prehistoric temples and full-size representations of eminent personalities grace the museum. The museum portrays kings and martyrs who powered their rule over Kerala for centuries, adding to its historic significance.

Thrissur Zoo

Thrissur Round or Swaraj Round is called Thrissur’s central point—the whole city of Thrissur branches from this point through 9 roads. The ground of the Teak forest- Thekkinkadu maidan, is encircled by the Thrissur Round.

Kuriachira

Kuriachira is a blooming residential area of Thrissur. 2 km away from the Swaraj Mound, it is established towards the South. It is also a tourist spot for its beautiful outlaying and nearby churches.

Vilangan Hills, Thrissur

Vilangan Hills, Thrissur, is a hillock set amidst a picturesque locale. Situated on the outskirts of the central city of Thrissur, it is about 5 km from the city center. The hill is covered with verdant green bushes that surround it serenely. The elevation provides a beautiful view of the city of Thrissur.

Near the top of the hill is also an open-air theatre. All this and more make Vilangan Hills one of Thrissur’s most visited travel attractions.
